Gonzo Quest is NetEnt’s first platinum video slot game, and it’s easy to see why. Gonzo Quest possesses one of the things that I love about a good online slot game; it can be enjoyed by seasoned vets like myself or newbies. Both groups can take away something from this game, and that’s what makes it great, after all Gonzo Quest is one of NetEnt’s most popular games for a reason.
The game opens with a short film to give you a little background on the main man, Gonzo the conquistador. Gonzo is based on and inspired by the adventure of Spanish conquistador Gonzalo Pizarro, who went searching for the lost city of El Dorado – believed to be the city of gold located somewhere in South America.
We soon find out that the main mission in the Gonzo’s Quest slot machine is to aid Gonzo in finding that elusive lost city of gold, El Dorado. It’s pretty impressive that so much thought has gone into the story and character of Gonzo, from the start you are invested. The main aim is to make your way through the Peruvian jungle, hitting the reels and taking all the prize opportunities you stumble across along the way, with the ultimate goal of finding the lost city of gold, for which you are greatly rewarded.
The game features 5 reels, 3 rows and 20 pay lines. The symbols are pretty cool and stay with you plus there’s free spins. Also it has the unique Avalanche feature in which the reels don’t spin, instead they fall into place like game of Tetris. You go into this mode every time you hit a winning line and all the symbols in a winning combo will vanish, leaving space for new ones.
What made this a “Must-play” for me, other than great 3D animations, other than the maximum multipliers, (which go up to 15!) what really clinched it for me was the free spins feature. A lot of games do this, and do it well, but not all games do it right. For example, you can get extra free spins with the help of the Wild Symbol. This question mark can replace any other symbol to create a winning combination!
I really enjoyed playing this game, it was one of the few games I play to review then continue playing when the review is done. Highly recommended.
